(22 July 2023 - FRESNO) California chain, Foster's Freeze, has been serving up ice cream and burgers since the 1970s but due to declining sales, aging facilities, and other variables familiar to the business world, the last dish of ice cream is set to be served at the end of August 2023.
Local real estate developer, Jim Burden stated that Foster's Freeze has 'been a real good tenant through the years,' but, 'their volume wasn’t what it should be for that location. They were on a percentage clause, and through the years we got monthly reports, and they’ve been fairly flat for ten years or so.' Starbucks expressed interest in the location due to the incresing commuter traffic along Bullard and Palm going south and east: both areas where Starbucks drive-thrus don't attract potential commuting customers on their way to work and no time for detours and extra mileage.
Plans for the Seattle-based coffee chain at Bullard and Palm call for a significant and much needed remodel of the existing Foster's Freeze building.
