(22 July 2025 OKLAHOMA CITY) Following the recent opening of its first two stores in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, Tulsa-based QuikTrip is now moving forward with plans for two more locations. The company has filed plans for a new QuikTrip Travel Center in Oklahoma City and another in Norman, signaling a significant expansion into the Central Oklahoma market.
The proposed Oklahoma City location is planned for the southeast corner of SW 5th Street and S. MacArthur Avenue, just south of I-40. According to the plans, the company will demolish 3 buildings including an existing Microtel hotel.
In keeping with its statement to only focus on travel centers in the OKC area, these new QT locations appear to be QuikTrip Travel Centers, a larger format than a standard store. The plans include diesel pumps, which are a feature of the Travel Center model. Currently, there are only two other QuikTrip stores in the OKC metro (both Travel Centers): one in more Moore and one at I-35 and Hefner Road.
In addition to the Oklahoma City site, QuikTrip has also acquired land in the suburb of Norman. Similarly there, the company plans to build a new Travel Center on the southwest corner of Main Street and I-35. This site also currently contains a former hotel and a smaller commercial building, both of which are slated for demolition.
This expansion marks a new chapter for QuikTrip, which took 65 years to enter the Oklahoma City market. The company operates more than 1,100 stores across the U.S. and is now growing its presence in the state's largest metropolitan area.
